Thread: Privateer Leather Hi Power Rig

    Privateer Leather Hi Power Rig

Here are a couple photos of my new Raider from Privateer Leather.

I've always liked the old Biachi Askins Avenger but they are long out of production and somewhat hard to find depending on what pistol you're shopping for. This might be the next best thing.

Being new, the holster is quite snug. I know from experience with leather from Wes that it will break in soon and eventually fit the pistol perfectly.

Thanks, Wes. Another job well done.

    Very Nice.

I have several Marauders (for revolvers) and a Crocodile ammo pouch from Privateer Leather.

Wes Dahl is good people. Very friendly to work with, and does excellent work.

A comparison of cant between the Askins and the Raider.

That's one of the things I like about the Bianchi (and the Privateer) over some other similar holsters. The cant allows the grip to sort of ride in against the kidney when worn behind the strong side hip.

Not for awhile. He's only had it maybe six weeks. He probably hasn't even started on it yet.

Wes’ work just gets more exceptional.

That’s some nice looking leather you got there!

    Thanks.

Wes' take on the Askins Avenger isn't an exact copy. He only does one row of stitches where Bianchi did two. His rear belt loop is a bit different and the Raider is unlined. The Bianchi was available with or without a liner. But Wes uses a sweat guard which is something that wasn't a part of the Bianchi.

There have been (still are) many different varieties of this basic pattern. The original is credited to Bruce Nelson I believe.

We never exchanged emails about a build time.

As you probably know, most of the "known" gunsmiths have a hefty backlog. I assume Mr Sokol is no different.
