If I were looking for a current-production general-purpose revolver, I'd go with a 4" blued GP-100 with the non-underlugged barrel and adjustable sights. Then I'd send it to a good 'smith and have a "duty" action job done and have it made DAO. Then I'd try my best to wear it out.

3" revolvers may be marginally easier to conceal, but with the prices they're going for now, the juice ain't worth the squeeze IMO.

Buying a new Smith revolver and then having the factory Performance Center enhance it is my suggestion.
Then, the owner enjoys lifetime warranty. Of course, all of the above have fumbled, but they can make it right. See the factory website for PC deals that include free shipping both ways.

The new 2.75” S&W M66 or the 3” M19 carry comp seems to be exactly what you are looking for. New S&W are a crap shoot but if you can find someone with a couple of the new 2.75” M66 in stock pick through for a good one.

What about the Kimber K6s? I think they’re somewhere between a J and K frame in size, 6 round capacity, real sights, and there are several models with 3” barrels. We have a couple of members who own copies and really seem to like them.

    The king cobra is killer.

In the final analysis, I ended up selling my 3" K6s. If not for the King, I would have kept it—that’s a neat gun too.

Did you solve your shiny rear sight issue?

I’ve never carried the GP-100, or any revolver larger than a J-frame.

I find it interesting that it’s the same height as the PX4C (or Glock 19). A 3” is about the same length as a G34. Empty weight of the GP100 (.38SPL Only) feels the same as the fully loaded PX4.

I only have a 3" 65 to compare. I agree the height and weight and length are often larger than my semis. What I find odd is how well it carries and conceals vs the autos that have less height weight and length. I can't explain in to myself or anyone else.

The shape. Compare the curvature of the backstraps in the above photo. The revolver has a single high point (the bottom of the grip) and continuously curves down from there. The magazine fed pistol must be relatively straight in order to accommodate the magazine, then has a second high point at the rear of the slide. The rear of the pistol as you hold it, top as you carry it, is the hardest part to conceal. If everything is same-same, the single high point it usually easier to conceal but still get a grip on.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.
