Taurus rubber grips on a J-frame

So, as a recommendation from another thread, I purchased the $10 Taurus boot grips for my 442. Attempted to put them on this morning and discovered that the bottom roll pin in the grip doesn’t line up at all with the holes, but otherwise the grip seems to fit perfectly. What is the solution here? Note the roll pin and gouges in the bottom of both halves of the grip where the roll pin goes.

You can tap out the roll pin.
Or use a small drill bit and add the holes in the grips

I just tapped the roll pin out. Stored it somewhere safe in case i want to switch grips.

So the bottom roll pin is NOT required then?

Nope. Some grips use it others not.

In the desert, looking for water.
Proper size drill bit, mark and drill blind holes in the $10 grips. Easy.

Thanks, guys. I’ll get these babies on and hit the range as soon as I can. Based on feel and how it cushions the web of your hand against the tang, these could be the winner I’ve been looking for.

I am waiting on the mailman. Thank you for this tip. I will probably just drill them when they get here.
Once you ordered did Taurus send you any shipping info or did they just show up?

The two halves of this Taurus grip lock into each other. Not the rubber nubs at the top of the left hand side, and the corresponding holes on the right hand side. The pin isn't needed to keep them aligned.
