I watched too many gangster movies as a kid and I'd love to have one to shoot now and then. He's info on the model and Lee Marvin's endorsement.

Yes sir. In my case an accident of birth. But you, you're a self-made man.

Picked it up on the way home. The finish looks rougher than it feels, and I think it's a factory nickle job based on the frame stamp and what I remember of such things when I was heavy into the S&W world.
The timing seems to be good, cylinder locks up very well with only a tiny amount of endshake (and it's probably within spec), haven't broken out the feeler gages yet but the cylinder gap looks nice and tight on all 6 chambers.
In DA the trigger feels lighter than my no lock 442 and almost as smooth as my GP that was slicked up by Actions by T. SA is perfectly acceptable with no creep.
The rifling is shallow and there's some darkness in the bore but I have not cleaned it or even dry patched it yet. I'm not expecting a ton of improvement but as long as it doesn't keyhole or pattern at 25 yds I'll be happy.
Overall I can see this being an excellent step up from .22 revolvers when my Grandson is ready to make that move.
The "N stamp that IIRC indicates a factory nickle job at some point:
