327 Federal or 9mm LCR?

I've sung the praises of my 432 and 632 (which I have shot at matches quite a bit). If I had to carry a belt revolver (when all semis are banned), given it's footprint and my hand size, that's the gun for me.

If I had to carry a SAA type, it would be a 7 shot 32 mag from Ruger.

The 432 is light and easy to pocket. Great little gun. SW should come up with a Scandium 432 that would take the 327 rounds. They are loud and do have recoil you feel. I've mentioned that when I switched from a 32 SW Long plinking round to a 327 in a match - it scared the SO and crowd. They thought the gun blew up.

If you didn't I'd say 9mm, but since you reload you should go with .327. Buy a bag each of .32 S&W long, .32 H&R, .327, an assortment of bullets, and have fun. I ended up with two sets of dies in my turret. I use the Lyman sizer for everything, and the Lee bell and seat dies for .32 S&W. The Lyman bell and seater are set for .32 H&R, and a spacer ring from .44 spl/mag makes it easy to switch to .327.

32 is a fun caliber to mess around with if you're a reloader. I bought a S&W 32 L revolver just to see what the 32 was all about. A 327 would be optimal but after talking to a guy at the range who shoots 327, 32 H&R and 32 L, he settled into 32 H&R. He said the 327 wasn't that easy to shoot accurately and accuracy is the standout for the 32. I can shoot my 32 L better than any revolver I have. 327 would be my choice here with 32 H&R ammo.

I’ve got a LCR 327, I easily and accurately shoot 32 Long, 32 H&R and 327 with no problems. 4 inch at reasonable defensive speed at 10 yards is easily done. At 15 yards I need to slow it down a bit but still doable. At 25 yards I suck with anything short barreled.

I really find 327 LCR easier to shoot than a 38 +P in my 442.

The Federal 32 H&R is extremely soft shooting, definitely a great choice if you don’t like the blastiness of the 327.

Only shot a LCR with 38 SP, it was a decent gun. I've always liked the look of SW wheel guns over Ruger, so when the 632 came by, I got it.

That's the big unknown. While various 32s have obviously been used over the decades for personal protection as well as nefarious purposes I doubt we have any real world anecdotes for the 327 FM.

Best data is likely to come from the hunting realm but that's probably going to be long barreled single action revolvers.
