    Remington 12A pump action .22

My father in law was shooting this rifle today when it stopped properly feeding rounds into the chamber. He had some success turning the rifle upside down as he worked the slide, but it appeared that cartridges were not being properly elevated in line with the chamber as the slide was moved forward. Any idea what we might check to see what is going wrong? Thanks in advance!

Worn extractors are the number one issue for the Remington 12A. A missing cartridge retainer is number two. Worn carrier dog is the next one to check.
