    Wow.

My only experience with a Dragunov is a little bit of firearms familiarization training with, IIRC, a whole five live rounds fired. Hitting the 300 meter pop up target quickly was easy and I quite liked the rifle. That said, there is no way the gun is worth that much!

I realize there is a bit of mystique surrounding the Dragunov in the US. But surely those can't sell for a price like that?!

    Not to me, they can’t.

Dragunovs go for $10k-$22k in the US at this time depending on how Dragunov-ey they are.

While the gun is expensive to build as is (best estimates on the interwebs being you can't make one for less than $2k USD), the price is inflated by its collector value. It's not a regular production item that is easily obtained like most SR25, AR10, M14/M1A variants in the US.

It's no different than any other rare gun with mystique.

I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.

So this must be a re-issue. The original Cobra issued Dragunovs went to their standard troopers who wore a RED cobra logo on their chest. The Silver logo went to the officers who came with AKs. Also us kids of the 80s didn't get no dual molded guns, ours were one color - black! Unless you lost it and had to replace it with a gun from a "battle pack" in which case you got some stupid pink or purple gun.

Truth be told - I'd rather have a nice Yugoslavian M76 in 8mm Mauser for my "Commie DMR Collection."
