    Tim Conway...85 years old. RIP

A name from my childhood. Used to watch The Carol Burnett Show with my grandparents and uncles on Saturday nights. One of the first three movies I remember seeing was The Apple Dumpling Gang....at the drive in....

    Physical comedy:

The master of deadpan and timing:

Backstory: Carol was insisting on a straight, as scripted performance. Had warned the staff that this needed to be shot correctly. Tim Conway stopped by Vickie Lawrence's dressing room, where she was having her makeup done by her husband. Tim wished her luck with "the elephant story" and walked out. The video where Vickie Lawrence called him an asshole was the final dress rehearsal, and both Carol and Vickie look really pissed at times, between their fits of laughter. It was released as a blooper years later, as it clearly could not air in the 70s.

Classic 70s variety show. In the 80s it was in syndication in my area during the day, and anytime I was sick from school or had a snow day or vacation day I tuned into channel 13, at 12:30. So I could watch the show, followed by The Price Is Right...you know, when we had only four broadcast TV channels, and VCRs were rented by the day on special occasions.

I recall him from "McHale's Navy" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055689/ ), and since he was a Cleveland area guy, and I grew up in Cleveland, most of the folks were quite proud to claim him as one of our own. He was a joy to watch. He will be missed.

My dad attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio with Conway and they were quite good friends. Dad said he was a character in college.

Seemed appropriate for here: the “Fire at will” sketch.

You always knew it was going to be rough on the rest of the cast when Tim would crack himself up before even saying his lines. The Siamese elephant skit is legendary.

Tim could make me laugh, even during times I thought I'd never laugh again. The world is richer somehow for his contributions.

Tim getting a dose of his own medicine:

I can only imagine how fun and crazy the rehearsals were...

I’m so glad we had this time together
Just to have a laugh and sing a song
Seems we just got started and before you know it
Comes the time we have to say so long

RIP Tim Conway one of my favorite comedians growing up. I watched the Carol Burnett Show every week.

    We are diminished.
Just a dog chauffeur that used to hold the dumb end of the leash.

    Such a comedic genius
It’s hard to say good bye
Just to think of this loss
Makes me want to have my eyes filled with tears.

Let’s see who gets this reference to my favorite Conway movie.
