Comparing Kenneth Starr (independent counsel) and Mueller is apples and oranges. The laws changed after Starr (and probably because of Starr).
https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/...lame-ken-starr“We believe that information obtained during a criminal investigation should, in most all cases, be made public only if there is an indictment and prosecution, not in lengthy and detailed reports filed after a decision has been made not to prosecute,” Reno told Congress at the time. “The final report provides a forum for unfairly airing a target’s dirty laundry…. We have come to believe that the price of the final report is often too high.”
Alan Dershowitz recently had an article where he compared the investigative abuses of the Democrats to the Republican investigative abuses of the 50s with the House Unamerican Activities Commitee. I couldn't find it in the few minutes I have to Google and post.
Dershowitz is very anti-Trump, but very pro-Constitution. He doesn't care for the man at all but seems fair in his analysis.

I'll buy that, thank you.
In any event, I don't think some of that information in that report will ever be examined by congress. I'm getting an education here about grand juries. Courts aren't (or shouldn't ) let congress have an unredacted report. Nor should anyone in Trump's adm have to testify. Obama used exec privilege to protect Holder so Trump should be able to also.
I don't think the Mueller report is a that big a deal anyway. What is a much bigger deal is Trump's financial records and his tax returns. If he loses that fight he's in a lot of trouble. Congress is giving him time to appeal because he deserves an appeal. The dem congress will end any chances for a second term if they get those records and everyone knows it. That could prove foreign influence.

Wow, talk about McCarthyesq. Let me state the obvious - of course Trump was influenced by foreign interests. He was the CEO of a multinational conglomerate with thousands of employees across the globe. Last I checked, that was neither secret nor illegal, and most of America understood that both candidates for POTUS in 2016 had competing foreign interests. What, did you not get that memo? Did you not learn anything from the fiasco that was the GOP-controlled House’s attempt to investigate the Clinton Foundation last year? And we wonder why capable people are unwilling to step-up and lead this country...
What you are proposing, that those in power be given cart blanch ability to dig up dirt on their political enemies, is some scary shit. Hey, let’s go look through the records of all the Catholics to make sure that they are not being influenced by the Vatican. Oh, Chuck Schumer the all the other Jews need to produce their documents too so that we can make sure that Israel isn’t pulling theirs strings. Believe it or not, those exact sentiments have been expressed in living memory by those in power in America...some just a few week ago by the Muslim caucus. Yet you want to double down on stupid. Fuck it - anyone with a foreign stock or investment vehicle needs to submit to public scrutiny to insure fealty to America.
So yes, let’s go back to Congress doing end runs around the justice system to find the dirt on your adversaries that a special prosecutor couldn’t find using due process. That will be real healthy for our country. Just don’t bitch when the GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee subpoenas all of the business records for the leading Democratic candidates for any public office ahead of the 2020 elections. After all, we need to make sure that Biden’s family wasn’t influenced by China when he was VP, Bernie’s by the USSR, and Warren by the Tribal Nation’s.

There's nothing civil about this war.
Funny how folks worrying about Trump’s foreign dealings never worry about Biden’s or the Clinton’s foreign dealings.
