S&W .41 magnum work in progress

I have been wanting to get a S&W.41 mag for some time now. The S&W Model 57 was a favorite of my father and grandfather. Sadly due to life circumstances none of those revolvers are around any more.
I found this one that had been pieced together for a good price.

The frame started life as a S&W model 28, the barrel is from a model 57 cut down to 5 inches (a personal favorite on a N-Frame) and the cylinder is from a nickeled 57. That work was done by John Gallagher.
I replaced the rubber grips with a set off wood grips I got off a member here.
The grips need to be fitted a bit better and some internal parts and springs need replaced.
I just had surgery on my right wrist so that is going to have to wait unfortunately.
My hope is to heal up, work up a handload and take a deer with it this year.

Stellar job. 5” N frames are classy.
Just a Hairy Special Snowflake supply clerk with no field experience, shooting an Asymetric carbine as a Try Hard. Snarky and easily butt hurt. Favorite animal is the Cape Buffalo....likely indicative of a personality disorder.

Ya don't see that many revolver parts guns. That one's pretty cool. Congrats!

Ever since reading the Skeeter Skelton story about Dobe Grant building a parts gun for Skeeter, I've wanted to do the same myself. However, I lack a source of spare parts, the required tooling, and skills.

    The big bore hipster caliber...

I had a 4” 57 for a while but @lostRiver posting pics of his 5” 44 mag had me all messed up.

9 grains of unique under pretty much everything worked well for me.

Ain't that just the way it goes? I have exactly the same problem. (smile)
