    Modern Samurai Project Black Belt Patch Standards

    I couldn't find a thread where we discussed or ran this. I had a chance to run it today for the first time and man is it a tough standard. It was a challenging and fun test! Going in I was pretty sure I am not quite there as far as hitting the black belt pars, but figured actually running it would give me a feel for how fast I need to be. So the actual standards are as follows (copied from the site) -

    1. 3&2 Drill. 3 yards. 3 shots to the COM Alpha then transition to 2 rounds on a 3x5 card in the head box. Par is 2.0 seconds.
    2. 1 Shot Drill @ 7 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 1.0 second.
    3. Bill Drill. 7 yards. 6 shots to COM Alpha. Par is 2.0 seconds.
    4. 1 Shot Drill @ 25 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 1.5 seconds.

    Pretty tough standards in general, and from concealment at that. I only made one of the standards(string 1) and barely so. But I learned some areas of improvement(need to fix my 25 yard draw(more modulation, less herky-jerky nonsense), grip was sloppy on the bill, etc....but it was an absolute blast running this and I will be incorporating it into more of my live fire sessions and recording it on my performance tracking log. Here is what I did today -

    M&P 2.0 5" from a Henry Holsters aiwb under a fleece

    1. 3&2 - 1.99 clean(barely caught the 2nd 3x5 hit)

    2. 1 shot drill @ 7 - 1.04 clean(high left in the A but in none the less, albeit OT)

    3. Bill drill - 2.22 -3c's (sloppy. 2.22 is a great time for me, but I pulled 3 out side the A and it was a generally poor run. I need to run the no fail bill and clean this up)

    4. 1 shot drill @ 25 - 1.54 -1c (a very low mike. I just shoved the gun out and the front sight dipped. I need to work on my modulation and coming to a clean stop when the shot breaks versus jamming the gun out)

    So, I know where I am at today, and where I want to be. All that's left is to work on it and get there. Anybody else running this? Where are you at? Hitting the goals? Close? Not even?

    Good run!

    I just looked at these last week. Definitely some tough times for black belt. I am waiting on an optic cut JM holster to show up, but I might run from my open gamer gear soon.
    The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

    Humbly improving with CZ's.

    Waaaay out west.
    Those are pretty sporty times. Something to give a go at in the off season.

    Jedi is on a whole different level than most dudes, especially with his AIWB draw

    I'm taking a class with Modern Samurai Project this coming weekend.

    If I'm on my game, I'm accurate and S-L-O-W.

    So I won't be winning any awards. But it looks like a good drill to add to the repertoire of practice drills

    I ran the 3&2 a few times today, twice with the m&p from concealment and once with the WC gp100 from owb. First run with the m&p had a 3x5 miss low. Second run was clean. The WC gp100 run was OT because I'm still figuring out the round gun draw. Once I get an iwb I'll run it with the gp from concealment.

    3&2 m&p miss

    3&2 clean m&p

    3&2 gp100 OT

    Loving these standards

    First post here! Very late to the party.

    I’ve been poking at these a while, and have it where I can manage a cold run pass (most days) at everything but the bill drill. I can pull a clean black belt bill about 25% of the time.

    Working in getting a pass SHO now

    Here was an attempt at the 3&2 with a j frame from aiwb. Feel short but it fun.

    Necrothread bump

    Bumping this up. Anyone here do this?

    @Clusterfrack
    @jetfire
    @YVK
    @GJM
    @JCS

    I was thinking of trying this with the 0.20 penalty from USPSA gear.

    I think I could hit all the time and accuracy standards, but probably not consistently.

    Anyone want to try this as a makeshift Drill of the Month since there haven’t been any new ones in the past two months?

    From open gamer gear it’d be:
    1. 3&2 Drill. 3 yards. 3 shots to the COM Alpha then transition to 2 rounds on a 3x5 card in the head box.
    Par is 1.8 seconds.

    2. 1 Shot Drill @ 7 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 0.8 second.

    3. Bill Drill. 7 yards. 6 shots to COM Alpha. Par is 1.8 seconds.

    4. 1 Shot Drill @ 25 yards. 1 shot to COM Alpha. Par is 1.3 seconds.
