The 38 Super is longer than 9mm. It might work or it might not. For you it didn’t. Better to get 9mm mags.
Here is more info on mag differences.

How much difference is there between a bobtail and round butt? Buried somewhere in this thread is a bobtail discussion and IIRC more than one poster mention they tend to shoot low when pushing for speed. Do round butts have that problem as well?
Bad ideas, brilliant execution

I was playing with grips and swapped this MJD Villain onto my Prodigy to see how I like it. It's a great grip that I would prefer to the factory Prodigy grip. I prefer the shape and texture. The problem is that I can't consistently disengage the grip safety. I'm curious if there are any way I can massage things without having to buy/blend a new safety or pin the existing one.
If you're not going to learn to use the front sight properly, don't bother with it. If pointing the gun, screaming "Ahhhhh!" and cranking on the trigger is all you can learn to do, work on doing that safely. -ToddG
The safety can be modified to deactivate sooner within its travel (or deactivating it completely) by removing material from the tang where it interfaces with the trigger bow. But that is a permanent modification to the safety. I know you want to avoid buying another safety, but it might make sense to keep the original as it is and buy another safety to modify for use with the MJD Villain grip. Does Springfield even sell the part?

I found a fixed "beavertail" non-grip safety as a solution. I think this will be a good choice because it's somewhat drop in and I can always go back to the original. I'm okay with deactivating the grip safety function since this is purely a gamer gun and won't see the skreets.

I’ve carried this Wilson ULCC 80% of the time for the past 8 years. I’m a little over 9K rounds through it with no issues. I clean it every 5-600 rounds, detail strip once a year and replace all springs at that time. I use Wilson magazines exclusively. I think a lot of problems with 1911’s can be attributed to magazines and or extractors not being properly adjusted.
