Unhappy Denver School shooting: At least 7 injured in Highlands Ranch; 2 suspects in custody

    This needs to stop.
I'm afraid to send kids to school.

    Got any suggestions?

I'm guessing that when this all comes out we'll find out that the shooters have been on the school's radar for awhile but no one did anything about it. We'll also find that they acquired their firearms completely outside the system and broke a half a dozen existing laws in doing so.

Govenor Polis will still call for "common sense gun reform"

    Unhappy

I wish I had a silver bullet solution.

Looks like as a parent, we always have to worry everywhere.

I'm predicting "this" will stop right after we have stamped out poverty, hunger, war and all those pesky infectious diseases.
The path of least resistance will seldom get you where you need to be.

"I'm afraid to send kids to school."

For perspective: there are perhaps 20 children killed annually in school shootings - every one of them certainly a tragedy.

There are over 2000 children killed annually in traffic accidents.
A hundred some in residential fires. 500+ from poisoning. A hundred odd in bicycle accidents. A hundred odd in falls. A few hundred drown.

As horrible as school shootings are, they aren't even close to the largest risk your child faces.

(Getting away from school shootings to all mass shootings: the annual number of deaths is around 200, which is about the number of people killed annually in collisions with deer).

(the numbers are from running reports at WISQARS: https://webappa.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/mortrate.html (you can pick the causes, years, age range, etc)

There is a copy cat aspect to these events, and they will continue.

The American Psychological Association agrees with you. They place some blame on the media.

No record for either of the two implicated.

Super typical new liberal views in their social media - pro-Obama, anti-Trump, very anti-Christian.

One 18yo male dead as of now.

I'll be surprised if it even stays in MSM news until the weekend.

And the second suspect is a transgender who was in the midst of transitioning from female to male.
