Thread: Advice on Mid Price 1911

  1. #11
The pre-owned market is SO soft right now. It's a buyer's market, for sure, with great deals everywhere

For example. this older CQB is on sale on another forum for under $1700, shipped

    Attachment 37907

ordering a NEW CQB, with a few options will be over $3k. A gun like this, with $500 can be sent back to wilson for a refinish and a couple small parts changes, if desired

The Pro is a good $2000-$2300 gun. The current price for a new one is $3200 I believe, and it’s overpriced.

    In no particular order:

Dan Wesson. Use the balance for a class.

Ed Brown Jeff Cooper Commemorative. A bit above your $2500, but nice.

Colt WWI Replica. Use the balance for better sights and a trigger job. These are gorgeous pistols.

Matter of opinion I suppose. Simple Google searches yield folks selling new for $2900.

There’s a few people online that I’d take 1911 advice from, @theJanitor is one of those folks.

I’d be all over a $1700 CQB if I had the funds. That Alchemy Prime is also a lot of gun for the money

MSRP for the non-rail model is over $3300 and the rail gun is over $3400. Obviously street prices will be less, and as stated earlier, the market is very soft right now.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re great guns, they’re just overpriced. I think I bought mine for $2200, and it had about 1,000 rounds through it when I bought it.

I sold it when I needed to some money for another build. I was either going to sell my Pro or my Dan Wesson Specialist. I still have the Specialist.

I think a dealer can order a Wilson CQB for around $2600-$2700. Blueing adds a couple hundred dollars, plus whatever other options get added on. But that’s probably the route I would go. I saw a blued Wilson Commander at the NRA show that looked incredible.

To each their own. I handled a few Wilson’s when I handled the Professionals. Professionals definitely had better fit (and the 20LPI is a favorite of mine)

Don’t confuse “better fit” and “ridiculously tight”.

But yeah, I love the 20LPI on the Pro.

Coming from someone who can't really come close to this price point...

Those Alchemy pistols are gorgeous. I saw three of the listed on GB, NIB... went for $1900, $1800 and $1600, respectively. All commanders, but, gives you an idea.
