    Are you suggesting that this won't work? Come come now. If a populace is unarmed, it is compliant and will never be dangerous. Just look at those Irishmen who, after being disarmed by the British certainly never pried up cobblestones from the streets* to use as weapons.

    *Non sequitur - I was in D.C. a few years ago and walking down the sidewalk with a friend. The walk in question was made of brick and I noted many loose bricks among the walk.

    I commented to myself, "Yes, these would do nicely."
    Said friend turned and said to me, "What would do nicely?"
    "Ah, loose bricks on the walk here, will at least afford the unarmed populace of D.C. the ability to fight back in some fashion."
    "Why would you think they would do that?"
    "Because a smart man can use a rock as well as a gun or sword to slay a Goliath."

    And that was the sum total of our street-based conversation.

    They have two problems, first they don’t understand 1984 was a warning not a manual. Second, they are devolving into the Morlocks and the Eloi.
