DotW 26: AMRAP 3x5 from Ready

Please read the rules before participating in this thread.

Week 26: AMRAP 3x5 from Ready
results may be posted until 11:59pm EST on Monday 2-April-2012.

    Range: 7yd
    Target: 3x5 card
    Start position: ready position
    Rounds fired: varies

This is another AMRAP drill. "AMRAP" means As Many Rounds As Possible.

Set your shot timer to a PAR of 2 seconds (or use a turning target system measured at 2 seconds of face time). On the buzzer, fire as many rounds into the 3x5 card as you can in the allotted time. If using a timer, check to make sure not to count any shots that were fired late.

Starting position will be any ready position of your choosing that does not involve the muzzle pointing at the target or target backer.

You'll repeat the drill a total of five times. With each repetition, try to push yourself a little bit harder to make just one more hit.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:
    • Choice of ready position.
    • Number of shots fired and number of hits for each rep.

Training with firearms is an inherently dangerous activity. Be sure to follow all safety protocols when using firearms or practicing these drills. These drills are provided for information purposes only. Use at your own risk.

    G19 w/RMR07 at high ready:

    1: 4 shots, 4 hits
    2: 7 shots, 2 over par, 4 hits
    3: 4 shots, 4 hits
    4: 5 shots, 4 hits (missed a touch low)
    5: 5 shots, 5 hits

Good news is that I ran my best clean FAST ever with an RDS--5.01 sec. Also passed all three Defoor tests.

Bad news was the trigger in my late 2011 3rd gen G19 failed yet again. After 100 rounds, the trigger safety got stuck and would not let me fire the pistol no matter how hard I pulled the trigger until I racked the slide--this happened six times. The slide worked fine on another G19 frame, so it has to be something the lower assembly...

G34 Gen 4, Warren Sevigny Competition Sights (FO), Ghost Rocket Trigger, Quasi Sul/High Compressed Ready (It's my own combination of the two.)

    3s(-1) 1.98
    4s(-0) 1.94
    5s(-0) 1.93
    6s(-0) 2.18
    7s(-2) 2.10

So it seems I'm good for five shots, for now.

OK, this was too much for me. I tried it from 7 yards with a 2 sec. par time and got zero hits in 5 tries. Then I tried again from 5 yd and got two hits.

What these drills are teaching me is that I need to work on getting my sight picture a lot faster.

    Thanks!

Zero hits trying to fire one shot per 2-sec PAR, or zero hits trying to shoot more shots (i.e., going faster) than that?

Tried shooting this from high ready with the muzzle tilted and everything. Unbelievably visually slick ready position. Used Gen3 G34 with Defoor sights, and continued trying the DRM reverse chapman grip and arm position.

    1: .77, .35, .30, .30, .28 = 2.00, 3 hits, 5 total shots
    2: .71, .34, .31, .30, .26 = 1.92, 4 hits, 5 total shots
    3: .70, .27, .23, .22, .24, .20 = 1.86, 5 hits, 6 total shots
    4: .66, .27, .26, .24, .22, .23, .22 = 2.10, 5 hits, 7 total shots, 1 over PAR
    5: .69, .24, .19, .22, .22, .19, .21, .21 = 2.17, 4 hits, 8 total shots, 1 over PAR
