A Boston-area judge and court officer have been charged in federal court with obstruction of justice for helping an previously deported criminal alien escape their courthouse to elude ICE.

For background, illegally re-entering or remaining in the U.S. is a federal felony punishable by between 2 and 20 years imprisonments. In other words the subject they let out the back door was not “just here illegally.”

This is long over due - kudos to the Boston USAO for taking the case.

I’m honestly shocked that ICE doesn’t camp in municipal courts and pick folks up.

I’d live to see the sanctuary idiots get charged, but in my not so legal opinion unless they do so especially stupid as this duo they are immune. Federal Leo can’t force local resources to do federal work. They can ask which is what the hold request is, but they can’t force. Local officials are there to enforce local laws and we have told various entities that entry into this country is absolutely, positively a federal thing and no other entity can pass laws making it illegal and enforcing it.

There should be zero tolerance for that kind of crap, hopefully more will step up. If you incite violence on LE in public forum punishment to the fullest extent of the law is the only appropriate response period.
