Too bad, it is a great cathedral.
I hope that the hunchback got out safely.

So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Perhaps flying water tankers could be used to put it out. Must act quickly!
Given the Islamic terror issues in France, a Catholic icon going up in flames during Easter week may not be a coincidence.

BBC says there was renovation work going on. Evidently, the place was not in great shape.

CATHOLIC CHURCHES ARE BEING DESECRATED ACROSS FRANCE—AND OFFICIALS DON’T KNOW WHY
France has seen a spate of attacks against Catholic churches since the start of the year, vandalism that has included arson and desecration.Last Sunday, the historic Church of St. Sulpice in Paris was set on fire just after midday mass on Sunday, Le Parisien reported, although no one was injured. Police are still investigating the attack, which firefighters have confidently attributed to arson.

I just watched some of the footage, working from home today. Such a beautiful building. A friend drug me there when we visited Paris a few years ago and now I'm glad he did, because, obviously, I'll never see it the same way again.
