My collection of rigs I actually carried on duty in patrol is simple:
- 070 in Safarilaminate for the S&W 4006
- another 070 in Safarilaminate for the S&W 4006 as the thumb break on the first one was cracking
- 070 in Safarilaminate for the Glock 22
My original agency didn't allow for any other rigs; however, they have since gone to the 6360.
I carry in an ALS now, but I sometimes carry a wheelgun in Class As and have an assortment of old rigs.
I had an ER nurse in a class. I noticed she kept taking all head shots. Her response when asked why, "'I've seen too many people who have been shot in the chest putting up a fight in the ER." Point taken.
I'm surprised by the amount of love the 295 is getting. We still issue it and training new shooters on the draw can take a little time. The retention also doesn't give a lot of confidence. We're hopefully changing to a different holster in the near future.
I loved my 0705. Saved my ass one night fighting with a rapist. Never could get sub second draws, but got close. A buddy of mine could consistently do .95 second draw/hit at 7 yards.

I carried a 5906 in a 070 from 1990 to 2006 when we went to the M&P40 in 6280s and eventually 6360s. I went to the academy and my first several months on patrol with a Security Six in a simple Safariland thumb break. Back then we did have a couple guys using break fronts.
That's good to know. I wasn't aware of the NYPD issues. We're in the middle of a proposal to change holsters along with some other equipment. The gun grabs are good info for the project. Thanks.
