How I keep my front sight Sharp and in focus at 50!!!

With red dots all the rage I thought Id talk a little bit about how I keep my front sight sharp and in focus!! As bad as my body hates me it has given me Very good eye sight!! So for the longest time Ive been able to have my front sight and target in sharp focus, But as Ive aged its been harder to keep that. So several years ago i found an APP that I use to keep my vision up. Yeah they make an APP for that!! im not sure how I found it but I did and I started using it and noticed that it really works well! In fact just recently I had a health scare that left me not able to focus on small print up close, I had been slacking on using the app so I stated using it once a day and in about 5-7 days my vision is BACK!!

I know from taking to the folks that invited the app that my results are not normal at all.. But the app can measure your vision performance and build a plan to help your vision get batter.

So for the folks that are finding they need reading glasses or if you have struggled with close vision issues I'd highly encourage you to try the app out. It takes about 15-30 minutes to do so its easy to find time to do that.

The app is expensive for an app but I think its very well worth it.

    best of luck to y'all!!

Thanks for posting this. I'll give it a try. I'm 39 and I'm noticing differences compared to a year ago, and frustratingly it seems to only be happening at the exact distance of a pressed out front sight.

Not to be a debbie downer, but this app seems based on behavioral ophthalmology (a rabbit hole my dad fell down a while back). There is no evidence that they work.

That doesn't mean they aren't necessarily worth trying as the risk of harm is nil - just consider the amount of money you are willing to spend with this in mind. They may even work for you - but the odds that they will just isn't supported based on the evidence to date.

So Id ask if you have tried it? What I can tell you is this app has changed my vision for the better.. I'm not even using readers anymore for reading books or my MacBook that has small print.

And aging my front sight is in Sharp focus now!!

I might give it a try, but....

I've had five eye surgeries so far, in both eyes. So I've had alot of conversations with the surgeons and specialists. One of the first questions I asked after the surgeon reattached my retina was, "what exercises can I do to strengthen my eye". His response was that the eye itself isn't a muscle that responds to things like that.

Over the next year, my prescription changed three times, due to substantial swings in my ability to see things. My conclusion is that I could train my BRAIN to interpret the signals from the nerves in my eyes differently. I was actively working to "see what I needed to see" just to get on with living. It's crazy to comprehend what the mind is capable of. I might be jumping on the bifocal contact lens train soon. That's a perfect example of the brain adapting it's output to the different signals it's getting from the eye

To be fair, I won't be a "real doctor" until I am through with residency at the very least, but as I have ~40% of an MD and 60% of a PhD I will take what I can get :P
