Depends what "big' is. I've got narrow hands but long fingers. This grip actually helps me get my hand up higher on the frame. I've tried it before with mixed results, and may at one point have posted that I didn't see a benefit one way or the other on the timer. But lately I've been doing this more consistently and seeing (slightly) better results.

Like many other things, it's not a yes/no answer. You need to see what works for you, but you need to know why that is, and not just because the famous Asian trainer Sum Dood said to do it that way.
