    https://www.funker530.com/military-tourniquets/

Summary: Studies show that current military tourniquets break a lot, arent very effective at stopping blood loss for various reasons, and even with multiple days of training most users could not effectively use them.

Interesting read, but no solutions provided, so, why bother? The lesson learned is - TRAIN with it consistently, TIGHTEN the f'ing thing HARD, and know how to secure the windlass.

If it showed current products were flawed but a new product was significantly improved, then I'd be interested. As it is, there's nothing better on the market, and it beats the $hit out of direct pressure, elevation, and hope.

It's an undercover reputational attack on their competitors in the TQ-space from the RATS-side of the house.

https://viewdns.info/reverseip/?host...DFvod9XMxiZqro - the "northamericanrescue .com" site is not to be confused with "narescue.com" and is another bit of reputational attack. The northamericanrescue link is more of the same cherrypicked and misrepresented stuff.

https://www.readymansecure network.com/ link broken because of aggravating pop-ups\prompts\don't-leave-me's; site is owned\run by Jeff Kirkham, whom is the declared inventor of the RATS TQ.

The content itself is arranged and presented in a very misleading manner, with what strongly resembles malicious and dishonest intent.

I'm glad that someone else posted this ahead of me, because I was getting ready to load up and drop bombs. The short version is that the scumbag who invented the RATS tourniquet cherry picked a shitload of anecdotes and then created and published this "evidenced based medicine" site in order to discredit CAT and SOFT-T TQs.

Why would he want to do that? Well I can only assume based on his tactics that it's because he's a scumbag.

Article is suspect and blah. That being said...

CAT issues described are neither invalid nor unknown prior to v7. If using a CAT, use a v7. Use a dedicated trainer for CATs, no exceptions.
Current v4 of the SOFTT-W is outstanding. Dedicated trainer is a best practice, but not required to preserve reliability.
Use of all other TQ variants come with caveats and conditions.
    RATs...see previous threads.
An awful lot of TQ "training" sucks, esp if it involves ppt and CBTs. Expect poor retention. Revisit the skill often with lots of hands-on manipulations and drills in situ.

It's kind of sad how cynical I've become, but now whenever I see something that doesn't pass the smell test right away, my first question is "who's getting paid?"

Funker530 at this point should be treated with suspicion; it's pretty evident to me that they take everything at face value and run with it. It was one thing when they pushed that bogus VVS propaganda story about the Russian JTAC who called an airstrike in on himself, but pushing shit like this that's just bad data and absolutely can get people killed crosses a line.
