As someone who currently works in healthcare IT, I agree wholeheartedly. Some of my coworkers have zero or near zero knowledge about guns, some are quite knowledgeable, and a whole range exists between. I think that those who choose to become knowledgeable do tend to become very knowledgeable, just by virtue of the fact that nerds are going to nerd, but if the initial interest isn't there, the research doesn't start.
I'm thinking "protective dildo concepts" should be on a hat you give to the top shooter in your classes...
