They've enacted a hiring freeze because cancellations now exceed new orders and they are burning through their $14 billion stopgap loan much more quickly than anticipated.

My company was really really counting on the Max being on line this summer. We needed the airplanes to operate a full schedule.

I guess it’s not going to matter now.

First the crashes, then the FAA recertification, and now the corona virus — Boeing better hope bad news only comes in threes, because the company can’t survive much more “news.”

It will be nice to see them on line again. Every time I fly over Victorville I look down and see a whole ramp covered in blue Max's with my company's name on them. While we certainly don't need the lift, they will do the job our current 800s are doing with less fuel than a 700 burns.

Yep. Same method as you guys. I was honored to have a part in it’s construction and implementation. As a guy that has been “F’ed” three times, it was truly a highlight in my career to be part of this. Hopefully we together have nudged the needle on how things will be done in the future. Kudos to both our groups. September will be my last month for a while. My term as representative is over in 6mo, and I’m stepping aside from that as well. Time for the next guys to step in. It’s Miller Time for a while....

After 20 months on the tarmac that followed two fatal crashes, Boeing's troubled 737 Max airliner has been given the green light to resume passenger flights, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday.

The plane's return to the skies will not be immediate, however. The FAA is requiring a series of design changes laid out in a 115-page directive. It also put forward training requirements for pilots and maintenance requirements for airlines.

After the FAA announcement, the Air Line Pilots Association released a statement saying it "believes that the engineering fixes to the flight-critical aircraft systems are sound and will be an effective component that leads to the safe return to service of the 737 MAX."
