JCN tests P365X-RMSx-WC-tungsten-TLR7-AC comp vs MR920-DPP-X5L

@Bergeron was asking for impressions and I feel like impressions are best given in comparison and defining purpose.

Let me know if people care and that’ll dictate how much time and effort I spend on the review.

Contextually, my thought was: if I like the P365 system, why can’t it serve a G19 role?

    Why these setups?

Started with the Timmy P365 setup and tried to match a Glock to the weight, capacity and general size.

So starting with same weight and same capacity (15 rounds).

    Pretty close in size.

    Dimensions

I ideally wanted to test the Timmy 365 versus no-light MR920 but the weight was too far off.

Length and height from top of optics is similar.

Widest part of the grip is 1.2” on both.

So even the grip of the WC is pretty similar to a G19. @JCS

Similar trigger weights the way the guns are set up.

Not very bright but does lack ambition
Following with interest. I’ve occasionally wondered that if I had a tragic boating accident if I wouldn't be well served for CCW with two P365s - an original for a small carry gun, and an XL with RDS for a midsized holster pistol.

For the sake of comparison, how wide is the widest part of the Razorback grip, and the standard module?

    1.05 inches.

But visually what that looks like, the difference is this:

Also just for context, the modularity of the 365 FCU means I can go between these configurations easily.

Because you're having to push the P365 quite a bit to get it to the plain-ish Glock 19 role, while you could then hot rod the Glock 19 further (170mm mags, bigger comp, bigger WML, competition magwell, retention holster, etc.), and the P365 would never be able to offer anything similar. I guess that's what people like to claim is the beauty of the Glock 19, being able to do double duty as concealed and open (though I would disagree with that assertion).

Fair point. In my head I was thinking pseudo-Timmy style possible carry limiting at a G19 weight and size.

In my head, I’m never going to carry a full size gun.

I wasn’t talking about ultimate performance (or else I’d do steel open guns). Just thinking about sub-30 ounce, G19 size guns.

The G19 is a great gun and great compromise between performance and size/weight. For realistic carry that’s about the physical limit for me.

    YMMV.

As context, if I wanted to do a 40+ ounce G34 size gun it would be an Alien.

I don’t practice or shoot this gun much but it’s easy to shoot well.

    That’s not what I’m talking about for a mid-size size/weight limit here.

I pocket carry a 365 with a 507k and I have 2 MR920s, one with an RMR HRS and threaded barrel and one with a 509t unthreaded that I carry IWB in colder weather where I always wear a sweatshirt or other light outer layer. I appreciate the 365 for what it is, which is a high cap pocket pistol that shoots really well for a small gun. But I would much rather shoot the MR920s any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I can put a roof rack and trailer hitch on my WRX hatch but it ain't gonna carry the family for a vacation like my Outback...

I would agree with that in stock form.

But the question is whether it can be modified up to an MR920 performance.

I’ll have to come up with some objective comparison tests.
