Got a set for round butt k frames that I'm going to fit to my m64.

    Stand by for updates

Took me about an hour of filing. I might come back to it later and do a little more but I'm happy for now.

Did you turn a square butt into a round butt?

I tried one of these over the holidays and they are now my absolute fave J-frame grips with really minor mods and attention to fit and finish. Not perfect, but fixable. I bought another one to cut down to a boot, and I am scheming to get a custom set made that is basically a copy of it on a RB K-frame.

With the exposed frame those must be the Compac Pros. The standard Compacs cover the back strap and add a lot of comfort at the cost of size.

I wish Pachmayr would ever so slightly reduce the girth/thickness of the Compac or make the Compac Pro ever so slightly larger.

The Compac is simply too big and don't let me get my finger in deep enough into the trigger. The Compac Pro (what I have now) is borderline too small.

I used to have Ahrends tactical grips on both my RB and SB K frames but when the weather gets colder those smooth grips don't give enough purchase on the gun. Maybe I'll have Keith Brown checker them.

I did the same converting my 64 from square to round several years ago. I used a belt sander to remove most of the material to shape the round butt. Finished it with files, emry cloth and sand paper. The belt sander really sped things up. I’ll have to check out those Pro grips.

Yeah, I missed adding that. I really like them. I have medium hands and they seem perfect. I haven't shot with them yet but I can usually tell if I like something before I shoot... Hopefully.

For a back up carry gun I really like them.

I just found out that I can get a 2.75" m66-8 for $560 through my shops range program. If I do I think I'll get another set.
