I'm not sure why this is a better mousetrap, but I've been MIA, so maybe ya'll can shed some light here.

I'm not yet onboard with electronic thumb printing as an unlock method. YMMV.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.

If it works as well as my phone you could probably pry the whole thing off the wall and beat your assailant to death.

No way I'd depend on something electronic to release my gun so I could use it. Especially a thumb print. What if the pad is cut or it is bloody or too dry etc?
Actually, might be "good idea" but could you count on it when the SHTF.
    Gimmickry.
    No Thanks.

Unless it is mounted to something immovable made of steel and resistant to bolt cutters, hacksaws, angle grinders etc, I think it's a mediocre idea.

It's not really a safe anyway, just a bit more secure way to keep the kids and you're drunk brother-in-law from messing around with it. Even then, kids can figure out a way to do a lot of things they're not supposed to do.

The best place for immediate access and to eliminate the afore mentioned risks is on my hip. It's cheaper to.

Same concept over and over. Uncle Mike's had a similar idea mounted in a duty holster back in the late 90s or early 2000's. Don't think it ever got past the "Shot Show" stage. The biometric technology is supposedly better now, but you still have the same problems baddean mentioned.

No thanks. If I can't play Candy Crush cause my phone won't unlock [emoji849], there's no way I'm relying on it to unlock my gun. The SLS/ALS works just fine.

This patent looks like the UM concept.
