As @Joe in PNG was trying to point out, it's not like there's copious amounts of 40S&W overstock out there anymore. The ammunition market has already adjusted.

Damn, I’m just realizing how true this is.it wasn’t too long ago you could pretty much find good stuff in plain boxes for $16-$18 a box. Can’t find it for less than $20 now, and some of the places I bought from are good and out of stock.

40 components were cheap as well, and I made sure to buy a decent amount.

To stay on topic, the 40 will be around for a while. If 45 gap and 357 sig are still around, it’ll be some time before it goes the way .41 magnum. I think it’ll catch on more as a 10mm light for “woodsman” or as the first decent gun a lot of people get into due to the low price and the fact that most people (even gun people) are shooting a ton of 40 every year.
