I'm going through one of those periods where none of the reds I'm drinking have been satisfying...Cab, Zin, Syrah, Petite Syrah.
I think I just sorta lost the taste for the summer and will stick to ale and beer.

Pushing the envelope a bit: enjoying this $20 a bottle ‘Los Clop’ Malbec tonight:

Pretty smooth. Full taste, slightly, idk, chewy? On the not sweet side.

Back to the Uno Malbec with tonight’s spaghetti.
Used a new foil cutter I ordered:

Very handy.

RJ, you're gonna have to branch out from this Malbec thing you got going and get some nice Italian table wine to go with your pasta...
Perhaps a nice Nero d'Avola to start with. Inexpensive, with good flavor. Check your local wine merchant or supermarket.

I've been making it a point to try the Kirkland wines from Costco and I'm pretty impressed. The Malbec, Rose and Pinot Grigio have all been better than expected especially at their price.

Fess Parker Winery Crockett Anniversary Edition
Yes, that Fess Parker.
57% Syrah, 43% Petit Syrah.
Dinner was a couple of sirloins marinated in a ginger-orange teriyaki sauce.
Wow.
We haven't had anything bad from Fess Parker, although there are some products that didn't make us want to buy a case. We are members of their quarterly choice club, whatever it's called; it was actually a Fess Parker Vigonier that got us into wine that doesn't come in boxes...
The Frontier Blend is a reliable inexpensive table wine; the Big Easy is magnificent.

We spent a few nights in the Inn, recommended, if you're in Santa Barbara and want a wine-themed vacay.

In the P-F basket of deplorables.
So I've mentioned Fess Parker Winery a couple of time.
Dinner tonight was an herbed chicken breast, I found a bottle of the wine that actually got us into wine:
(Obviously the vintage was earlier.)
Dinner was at The Melting Pot in Seattle. For anyone who doesn't know, The Melting Pot is a chain of restaurants that specialize in fondue. Your meal will basically be a cheese fondue for an appetizer, a broth-based fondue for the main meal, and a chocolate-based fondue for desert.
We're looking at the wine list and see this... thing.
Me: "So, this vigun... vigun... How do you pronounce it, anyway?"
Server: "Vee-own-yay. Very nice. And, yes, that is the Fess Parker."
And the rest is history.
Yes, that is a little coon skin cap on the label.

Enjoying a nice 2015 Syrah from Santa Barbera winery tonight before dinner.
Chewy, very fruity and sweet. Lingers on the palette. Full bodied, like that Girl you remember from High School Chemistry Class, that Was A Lot of Fun, but only ended up dating a few times.
