For a 3" .357, I'll go with the 3" GP100. While I'm sure it's relatively doable, the recoil on lightweight .357s is moderately interesting, especially after several shots. I had a S&W 640 with a Kramer ankle holster; I kept it for about 6 months, and then gave someone else the pleasure of enjoying it.

My personal preference is for 4" for .357; for lighter framed/barreled 4" and smaller revolvers, it's going to be a .38 Special +P.

If you need more power in a smaller frame, I think better choices (and increased controllability, comfort, and often ammunition capacity) are to be found with vetted 9mm or .40 semi-automatics.
