I had very nearly bought a bolt-action rifle, in .300BLK, for low-noise pest/vermin control, several years previously, and had forgotten the “numbers” on .300 BLK, but it was enough to remember to remember that, for any given bullet weight, medium thirties have been doing an equivalant job for multiple decades.
    300 BO Supers = 7.62x39.

A plus of 7.62x39 is cheap ammo. Downsides are subsonic 7.62 x39 ammo is rare and 7.62x39s tapered case is not optimal for functionality in ARs.

I have a CZ bolt gun in 7.62x39 I’m very fond of but if I want a 7.62x39 pistol it will be an AK.

True. I had done a bit of homework on AK pistols, too, and leaned AK, for a while, on two separate occasions, very nearly buying a Draco, and later, a Zastava. I seem to remember plotting to buy a discreet backpack or sling bag to fit, too. (Obviously, these were not meant for the discreet pest control, mentioned in my above post._
