Are you buying the rail first and then justifying the rifle purchase since you already have the rail and it would be a shame to waste it?

No I already have the rifle. But I plan on another so...........maybe that's the way to do it
The CIM Tactical M-Lock rail has a better profile in my opinion, is made from the same stuff and is $175 cheaper.
For the Geissele price I want to see a redesigned barrel nut, there's a lot of weight to be shaved from the HK417/MR762 barrel nut with no compromise in durability outside of sustained full auto fire.
Geissele is one of the few companies I'd trust to do a lighter weight barrel nut.
I say this as a guy who has no problem spending ridiculous amounts of money on his MR762 (including a Geissele trigger).
