    Happy Redcoats Go "F" Yourselves Day! 19 April 1775

    By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
    Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
    Here once the embattled farmers stood
    And fired the shot heard round the world.

    The foe long since in silence slept;
    Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
    And Time the ruined bridge has swept
    Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.

    On this green bank, by this soft stream,
    We set today a votive stone;
    That memory may their deed redeem,
    When, like our sires, our sons are gone.

    Spirit, that made those heroes dare
    To die, and leave their children free,
    Bid Time and Nature gently spare
    The shaft we raise to them and thee.

    - Ralph Waldo Emerson

    If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

    Not very bright but does lack ambition
    It kills me that CT didn’t adopt it until less than ten years ago, whereas MA and ME have had it for over a century.

    My 20th wedding anniversary is today. Now I know why she calls me a Minuteman. That girl...so patriotic and I guess a history buff!

    Yes, but even more accurately, Major Pitcairn marched his Grenadiers out on a gun control mission.

    Capt. Parker’s militia fellows were made of stiff stuff to stand up to the best troops in the world. They did fine that morning and the rest of the war.
