    Ditto on the Springer.
I've owned the Commander sized 9mm 1911 Range Officer since its intro, zero issues.
The factory mags leave alot to be desired, but mine runs perfect on stainless Checkmate mags.
When I purchased it, it was around $800.

1 - shot 525 rounds, consisted of various FMJs/weights, (Tula, WWB, Perfecta, ZQI, S&B), and some Federal HST 124s that I needed to rotate out of my carry guns. Zero issues

2 - Passed 10-8 extractor test with flying colors, brass sitting at a nice pile at 3 - 4 o'clock

3 - Trigger is a hair under 4lbs, very nice

4 - Metalform 10 rd mags do not touch the ejector, locked slide on empty, worked flawlessly. I have a Brownells mag coming in and apparently, these are Metalform mags. I'll wait till I test. Mag that came with it looks extactly like a Metalform with a different follower

5 - I was surprised that both barrels (22 TCM, 9mm) are a nicely polished Para/Clark style, as opposed to the unramped variety I read it would probably be

6 - Haven't fired 22 TCM, I would like to try it to see the reputed fireball and loud report, and see if it's reliable for mag dump plinking

Time will tell as I pump more rounds into it. I did install a (mismatched) Wilson Checked Frontstrap cause I'm cheap, and holy shit the VZ grips on there are aggressive. I like it. I do wanna change the front site to a Dawson one.

Here's a gratuitous garage shot after cleaning and oiling...

So I found my number two choice which is a SA RO Elite 9mm Operator on ARFCOM. Its got 1k rounds through it but has a WC flat trigger and NH magwell, both of which are big priorities for me. And its coming with several Wilson mags. It doesn't contribute to this thread at all, but I'm stoked.
I’ve put almost 400 rounds through it in the past week, most of that in the past few days. I love this thing. It fails the extractor test badly, and I’ve had issues with one of the Wilson mags feeding, but it is a blast to shoot and the flat trigger is solid.

My STI Duty 5.0 does the same thing with 147-grain HST yet feeds 115-grain JHP just fine. I noted that the extractor on that pistol will hold an unfired round if the slide is slowly pull rearward.

As for the magazine that does not feed occasionally, I suspect the rate of failures will increase. I am now experimenting with the spring from a Tripp Super 7 kit and the Wilson follower in a magazine that does not feed. So far, it has solved the issue which suggests the magazine spring is not strong enough to get the round into position.

    Some updates....

1 - sitting on 1250 rounds fired of various FMJ brands & weights, still no issues

2 - felt it deserved to upgrade to Challis bushings and screws. Have a Fusion 1911 trigger incoming

3 - Metalform mags still function flawlessly, finally got my Brownells mag, ran 250+ rounds and no issues. It's def a Metalform mag (follower, body, basepad) but the spring is a little lighter than the actual MF mags

4 - gun is accurate and a joy to shoot
