Painted the sights (black rear and orange front for me) last night, installed the Gadget, and ran another 100 rounds of Critical Duty which emptied my recycle bin, then 50 rounds of HST 124 +P, no problems. Biggest problem is in recoil the thing wants to torque in my hands and my recovery is slower than a G19 leading to slower splits.

I was rewarded with some groups at 10 and 25 yards that are comparable to what I can do with a G19. Ran a Vickers test last night with a B-8 at the indoor range and passed 4 out of 6 runs which is ok for me in that lower light environment.

Then finishing up today, I grabbed another baggie out of my "recycle" stack of previously carried ammo and it turned out to be Federal 9BPLE +P+ 115gr, which may well be 20 years old, it has been a long time since I carried it. I had at least 20% of those become balky on going into battery leading to light off center strikes on some rounds. I abandoned that ammo baggie for this gun, not sure what was going on there.

I have named mine "the Flounder" because it is so flat. My Warren sights are inbound. When I have them on I will continue my testing. I am going to install some 3M step tape to see if a bit of grippyness will help the recoil management.
I regularly use Black Diamond, Liquid White Gold climbing chalk on my support hand, and even some on my strong hand if it is cold and my hands are less pliable. I have found that residual chalk from my hands that stays on the grip provides extra traction, and applying some might be worth a try as it doesn’t add thickness.

I met my friend that is a Patrol Sargeant at the range, he brough his G43 upper so we could play around with it.
210 rounds total through the G48 with the stock upper 40 rounds through his G43 upper.

I wanted to shoot some drills to get an early evaluation of the G48 .vs the G19x. I started off shooting with my correction lenses and did not do very well. I switched to no correction and finished shooting drills with blurry sights. By doing so, it makes it hard to put too much stock in the evalution. More will follow.

    First, here it is.

    Attachment 34395

I have several G43 holsters left over so I cut the end off of one to allow the G48 to pass through. Not ideal, but a temporary solution.

    Attachment 34396

My VG2 for the G42 fits it just fine. Might have to bolt a wing claw on there and test it out until I can get an RCS Perun and a DSG Hitchhiker for it.

    Attachment 34397

Here is is with the G43 slide on it.

    Attachment 34398

Here is a 2" dot, shot at 7 yards. Ten shots with 48 upper, 10 with 43 upper. My friend shot this.

    Attachment 34399

10 shots of 147 HST at 7. I shot this one. 48 upper.

    Attachment 34400

These were actually shot toward the end of the session. The test x 2

    Takeaways.
The G48 is a very capable gun. To me, it feels like you have to drive the 48 a bit more than the 19x due to the size. The smaller gun is slightly less pleasant and more fatiguing to shoot than the 19x. The G48 is less forgiving of mistakes than the larger gun. If you grab it like you mean it and drive it like you stole it, it will perform.
Shooting it with the 147 HST's and the 43 upper, it was .40 S&W type of snappy. I had to reset my grip when shooting this configuration. I did not have that problem shooting the other 40 rounds of 147's through the 48 upper.

I need to break my draw down and work on it in isolation. I am really slow to get the first shot off from the low ready. Seems like low hanging fruit to work on.

My shoulders, forearms, and hands were smoked from working in the yard this morning. My hands actually started to cramp while shooting the 48, but it went away while shooting the 19x. I should make sure I am fresh for my next set of evaulation drills.

I took a bunch of GoPro footage of drills with a chest rig. I will work on getting those uploaded and post them.

Perhaps it is ammo weight sensitive. I noticed the G26 the other day hit decently higher with 124. Will add that to my next session before I swap sights.

Looking forward to trying one out.

I hope it shoots more like a full sized gun than the subcompacts

I’m pretty excited to be able to contribute to this thread soon. I bought a G48 today! I’ll pick it up next week.

I may have screwed up buying a 48 instead of a 43X. I had assumed that the 48 would be better at distance, and my legacy 43 slide could always be used on the 48 lower to effectively give me a dark 43X.

My wife dispelled the notion of the 43X not being good at distance with that crazy small group at 25 and her performance on eight inch steel at 30 yards. After messing with parts, I don’t think the legacy 43 slide is as good as the 43X upper. The 43X upper has a Marksman barrel, forward serrations, a more tacky surface feel due to the 19X style slide prep, and a PVD coating. My 43 slide feels slippery by comparison and my wife has had some corrosion issues on her legacy 43 she regularly carries IWB.
