Great find!
Great find!
Here are a few more photos.
I was wrong about the mags. They aren't marked I, II and III but rather II, III and III. I wonder what happened to I and probably IV?
I detail stripped the handgun this morning. The bore and other stuff that's easily cleaned on a general strip was clean but the extractor and firing pin were amazingly dirty. Same with the sear, disconnector and trigger bar. Interior surfaces had a hard waxy buildup probably from a huge amount of cast bullets.

Do you mind sharing what you stole, I mean paid for this 1911?
Very cool.
I'd replace the sights, safety, and parkerize it.
I wouldn't refinish it. It looks good as is and still just as corrosion resistant as it has been for the past 25 years or so. It's not gonna turn to dust anytime soon.
Ya know this an expensive website. That makes me want to get back into .45’s!! Very cool. I enjoy those days when I drop the kiddos at school, no honey do list, overcast cool day with my coffee and I make the rounds. That is a great find my friend.
Nice!
I would replace the sights or at least the tritium inserts, install a different thumb safety and a medium or long trigger and leave the rest alone.
I wouldn't want to use a gun with wear I didn't earn.
I'd have it refinished and work on wear of my own.

Nice legacy piece. I'd replace the safety and the sights, probably wouldn't bother refinishing it. I generally consider refinishing to be a waste of money.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......
