Frankly, I'm rather curious about the character Angelica Huston plays.

I expect it will be more of the same - action sequences that look like a mix between martial arts movies and 3-gun/uspsa stages punctuated by light helpings of surprisingly decent plot. What are you worried about?

One and 2 had enough original gun fighting that it satisfied me as something new. Center Axis Relock aside, #1 and 2 had enough never before seen in movies gun fighting stuff that made you think they were kinda paying attention to making something totally different. The third one has added enough swords, dogs, deserts and what not, to make me worried they are straying from the formula, kinda like Rocky 5.

If all they do is film Halle Berry running a luxed up G34, consider me a satisfied patron.

We shall see I guess.

Those movies have never been about the plot. Style and something fresh has been their hook for me.

The Wick movies are all about style. The plot is very simplistic and the characters are almost caricatures of standard tropes. That's really the whole point of the movies, wherein they're taking a little wink wink, nod nod at the genre. That's what makes them work. As long as they stay with that formula and don't try to turn it into something deeper it will work.

Well, John Wick 2 introduced the best music track in the whole series during the 3-gun sequence.

Good point - that's another thing JW and JW2 both got right - great music in both movies, and that track is super good.

What, you mean the scene where she's just sort of matter-of-fact topless in an almost completely non-sexual manner? I give that scene a big "eh, whatever." Sure, she's a beautiful woman and her breasts were bare, but it was just sort of incidental. For that matter, Swordfish as a whole was not particularly good - as per usual with Hollywood, they tried to make hacking/computer programming into something visually glamorous, which is just pure silliness to those who actually know anything at all about it.

The thing JW2 lacked from the first movie is the truly visceral motivation for wanting to see John avenge the wrong that had been done to him. They stole his cool car and shot his dead wife’s gift puppy, dammit and they all need to DIE violently. Whereas the second one is him fighting bad guys doing bad guy things to other bad guys for bad guy reasons. He’s still a badass, but he’s more ambiguous in not really being a “good guy”. The other thing is that in the first you get to unravel just how badass he is - in the second, you go in knowing what he’s capable of so there’s no surprise.

I’m excited for 3 nonetheless and hope to see him killing the everloving shit out of everyone in his way.

I do have to admit I hesitate to rewatch JW1 sometimes because I truly fucking hate the part where the bad guys kill the puppy.
