    Week 303: 2-Second Challenge #1

    Week 303: 2-Second Challenge #1

Results may be posted until February 11th, 2019.

    Designed by: Todd Louis Green
    Range: 7 yards
Target: 8" circle, IPSC A-zone, or 8.5x11 sheet of paper
Start position: From concealment or a duty/retention holster
    Rounds fired: Varies

We begin our "What can you do in two seconds?" challenge with this simple AMRAP drill.

Set up your target at seven yards. You will draw from either concealment or a duty/retention holster. If your range does not allow you to draw from a holster, begin from the ready position (gun in whatever condition you normally carry it).

    Give yourself a 2-second PAR.

Draw and fire one shot at the target within the PAR time.

If you are successful with all hits in time five times in a row, repeat the test but fire two rounds maintaining the 2-second PAR.

If you are successful with all hits within the PAR five times in a row, repeat the test but firing three rounds (keeping the 2s PAR).

As long as you get all hits within PAR five times in a row, keep adding one more shot and try again.

Once you miss or go over PAR, the drill is over.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

    Pistol and holster used
Start position (concealed, duty, or ready).
Highest number of hits per draw that you successfully scored all hits within PAR time for five successive attempts
    Anything you noticed

Hi all people! I did this exercise this evening. I used duty holster safariland. Pistol Glock 17, Gen3 Original Sights. Start Position Duty at 7 meters. Target, 11x6 inches.
    My results are the following:

1 shot at 2 seconds x 5 times. PASS. All shots were more or less at 1.60 seconds.

2 shots at 2 seconds x 5 times. PASS. All shots were more or less at 1.80 seconds.

3 shots at 2 seconds x 5 times. NO PASS. The first time, I failed 1 shot. The second, third and fourth time I have not failed. The fifth time I failed 1 shot. All the times were more or less at 1.95 seconds.

I really liked this exercise, thanks for sharing!

    I will continue training

Challenge was conducted on a Q-PT with 19X (stock Glock night irons) in a Safariland ALS.

Didn't make it past the first round of draw to ones. First draw to pair was over par as well as not clean.

    Times: 1.58/1.53/1.54/1.55/1.64/2.06

I'm a bit irritated that even the one that did make it in was low left.

Wow this drill is a ball buster after a whole winter of slacking off.......

Tried it on Friday with a revolver and the best I could do (with an fleece vest for concealment) was a 2.14 (getting the hits) and more like 2.5 to get five hits in a row

Tried it again today with a CZ P01 concealed under a sweatshirt and after about 25 frustrating rounds things started coming together where I could keep five in a row in an 8" paper plate with each shot under 2 sec, running from a best of 1.77 to right at 2.00 sec.

These were all single shots. Never attempted a draw and two shots under 2. Next week I'll push it up.

This drill is something I'll be doing every range trip.

Pistol and holster used: Gen 5 Glock 45, Ameriglo Agents - Orange, Blade-Tech DOH
Start position (concealed, duty, or ready): Holstered
Highest number of hits per draw that you successfully scored all hits within PAR time for five successive attempts: 2

This is a new holster for me. I got it with the intent of having a very simple USPSA/IDPA setup I could take to the range and just work on stuff. Since I'm going on my lunch breaks dressed business casual (tucked shirt, slacks) I can just throw this belt on over my other stuff and do work. However, it's lower and more offset than I'm used to. I may take the DOH off and just run the holster straight on Teklok off the belt. As such, I missed my first two or three draws pretty badly. Decided to push the reset button, concentrate more on the draw, and then push from there.

I got the 1's and 2's cleaned pretty easily. Time was there to do 3's easily too, but ended up dropping 2 shots on the third string of 3's. The taped hit in the 8" circle was from the first couple before I hit reset.

In this context, as many rounds as possible, within the given par time.
"...we suffer more in imagination than in reality." Seneca, probably.
