Did it again with the wee G43. Did okay but inexplicably tossed one way, way high off target at 25. Times seemed less generous with the smaller gun and I barely scraped by at the 5 line in 5s, @7yds with reload from pocket and on the 15 line in 15s.

    273-1

    G35 with 180 HSTs
276/300 (not adjusted for any extra shot penalties)
Fired an extra shot somewhere early on, which also added a surprise reload on the 10yard string.
used ~60%-70% of the time on each string

Two weeks with no live fire and not shot .40 since October. I was surprised to find at how much I have been giving up on my grip pressure from shooting 9mm as heavily as I have. My support hand slid down and I had to re-grip until the third shot on string 1 where I found my hand strength again. I think those were the hits in the 7 ring. At the 5 yard string I shot too fast and dropped 2 rounds low in the 8 ring.

I like this drill and will be adding it to my regimen. I would like to tighten everything up. I have spent more time at 25-40 yards in 2018 and hope to improve upon that this year.

Hi! Happy new year! I did this exercise this evening. I did it from the Holster (no low ready). It is my result:

Pistol: GLOCK 17, Gen3 Original Sights. Holster: Kydex Open.

    String 1: 25m. 49/50 points. First Shot 6.64sg, PAR 27.57sg. 0 Fails.
    String 2: 15m. 47/50 points. First Shot 2.83sg, PAR 9.31sg. 0 Fails.
    String 3: 10m. 46/50 points. First Shot 1.73sg, PAR 5.61sg. 0 Fails.
    String 4: 7m. 98/100 points. First Shot 1.53sg, PAR 10.90sg. Reload 3.28sg. 0 Fails.
    String 5: 5m. 49/50 points. First Shot 1.44sg, PAR 3.68sg. 0 Fails.

    TOTAL: 289/300.

    I will continue training

Did this again after work, cold start.

First run: G45, Ameriglo Agents, BHA 115 FMJ
    25- 47
    15- 47
    10- 49
    7- 99
    5- 49
    Total: 291

Second run: G43, Ameriglo Hackathorns, BHA 115 FMJ
    25- 24
    15- 46
    10- 49
    7- 93
    5- 49
    Total: 261

    Third run: Same G43
    25- 45
    15- 49
    10- 50
    7- 93
    5- 50
    Total: 287

    Observations:

Great gun and great ammo make shooting that much easier. The G45/19X are shooter's guns.

A good chunk of my practice sessions in recent months are The Test (10-10-10). When time is short multiple runs are easy to knock out. As I've gotten more proficient at 10yds I switched to 15yds. This bullseye course is just a little farther, but mostly the same stuff. I attribute the scores above to the regular 15yd practice. Tom's article in the newsletter linked above notes:

You have also had a good work-out that covered sight alignment/sight picture, trigger control, follow through, recoil control/recovery, reloading under time pressure, and appropriate cadences for different distances - all in less than one box of ammunition.
First run with the G43 was rough, having been off it since August. The second run was better. The scores are deceptive though, as it's still a lot harder to run fast and aggressively as it's larger siblings.

    What a great COF though.

I shot this with coworkers today at lunch on a lit indoor range.
    GLOCK Model45(“stealth X”), mostly 124 ball ammo.
280 total; a few hits high in “8”.
If I can tomorrow, I will shoot it again for improvement. I”think” I’m hunting the top of the front sight in indoor lighting.
Agree with Mr. Givens that 300 would be accomplishment. I like this for the longer ranges, and the training of sight focus and trigger manipulation.
    Thanks to Mr. Givens!

Got some of the Langdon paper targets, which are excellent. Used the target to refine the zero on my back up VP9-B with DP Pro and then shot Tom’s test. Had a really hard time with the time limits. Trying to take my time, I think I shot the 25 yard string in 12 seconds, and about half the time on the rest of the strings.

    Think this is a 298.
