Looks like I missed the boat for Nephrology, but the Coast HP1 is a simple AA flashlight. It has a forward clicky tailcap and can use a lithium ion 14500 battery for MORE LUMENS:

My preference is for a Streamlight vs a Coast.

I'd recommend lithium batteries for lights that will be sitting a lot. I bought my Dads six cheap AA lights, put lithium batteries in them and told him to stash them around the house. After he died I found one in each bathroom, one by his bed, one by his chair, one by the back door and the last one was in the glovebox of his car.

I need a headlamp and would appreciate some recommendations please.
Sorry if this is a drift, but I just came inside after having to disconnect the battery from my wife's Honda, in the cold, in the rain, after a 12 hour shift..because the damn car alarm must have a short...

I recently read a thread somewhere and the Coast line was mentioned. Maybe from Home Depot.

    Any suggestions?

    btw...great job Nephrology!

I have been using a headlamp made by Led Lenzer for years. And have been very happy with it.

If it's never leaving the house, any generic version is probably fine.

If it might be a life saving tool, look at
Petzl and Black Diamond. I've relied on both of these brands in the back country.

I agree; Streamlight is almost certainly better quality. But for the price the Coast is pretty good.

    Petzl Tikka

    Petzl Tikka

    Petzl Tikka

I have three of them, for camping, hiking, in the car. As handy as a handle on a bucket, bomb-proof. I've used mine for everything from working on the car in the garage to doing cave excavations and spelunking. I have other head lights, including a Fenix that puts out like a thousand lumens in spot form. None of them get used as often as a Petzl Tikka.

Now what's the name of that flashlight again?

Thanks for the input folks. I'll get on Amazon ASAP
