There's a minimum caliber with which to keep and arm bears? Do we want bears with high caliber arms?

I met my friend that is a Patrol Sargeant at the range, he brough his G43 upper so we could play around with it.
210 rounds total through the G48 with the stock upper 40 rounds through his G43 upper.

I wanted to shoot some drills to get an early evaluation of the G48 .vs the G19x. I started off shooting with my correction lenses and did not do very well. I switched to no correction and finished shooting drills with blurry sights. By doing so, it makes it hard to put too much stock in the evalution. More will follow.

    First, here it is.

    Attachment 34395

I have several G43 holsters left over so I cut the end off of one to allow the G48 to pass through. Not ideal, but a temporary solution.

    Attachment 34396

My VG2 for the G42 fits it just fine. Might have to bolt a wing claw on there and test it out until I can get an RCS Perun and a DSG Hitchhiker for it.

    Attachment 34397

Here is is with the G43 slide on it.

    Attachment 34398

Here is a 2" dot, shot at 7 yards. Ten shots with 48 upper, 10 with 43 upper. My friend shot this.

    Attachment 34399

10 shots of 147 HST at 7. I shot this one. 48 upper.

    Attachment 34400

These were actually shot toward the end of the session. The test x 2

    Takeaways.
The G48 is a very capable gun. To me, it feels like you have to drive the 48 a bit more than the 19x due to the size. The smaller gun is slightly less pleasant and more fatiguing to shoot than the 19x. The G48 is less forgiving of mistakes than the larger gun. If you grab it like you mean it and drive it like you stole it, it will perform.
Shooting it with the 147 HST's and the 43 upper, it was .40 S&W type of snappy. I had to reset my grip when shooting this configuration. I did not have that problem shooting the other 40 rounds of 147's through the 48 upper.

I need to break my draw down and work on it in isolation. I am really slow to get the first shot off from the low ready. Seems like low hanging fruit to work on.

My shoulders, forearms, and hands were smoked from working in the yard this morning. My hands actually started to cramp while shooting the 48, but it went away while shooting the 19x. I should make sure I am fresh for my next set of evaulation drills.

I took a bunch of GoPro footage of drills with a chest rig. I will work on getting those uploaded and post them.

Here is an example of what I mean when I say that you have to drive it. With my current hand strength, the gun will rotate if I ease the support hand grip a little.

Jeff Mau of Tenicor and Ray Porthen take a first look at an out of the box Glock 48 including a 1000 round reliability test.

I get where you’re coming from, but lets consider this was one range session over a relatively short amount of time and arguably more rounds than your average gun owner will put through one of these in their lifetime.

I don’t consider it torture but I consider it a bit more of a valid testing metric for the average gun owner versus the BS that will come from say MAC’s Gauntlet and folks who will all cry “POS!” if the gun were to choke during it.
