Recovering Gun Store Commando. My Blog: The Clue Meter

Been here 19 years. Spent some of it trying to "make a difference." There is no saving Kalifornia from itself. I have sadly reached the conclusion it is best to just sit back and LET IT BURN (politically not literally). There is no changing the minds of the brain dead who now hold a firm control of the state's politics and I doubt they will care about a cell phone tax (these idiots voted to keep a SECOND gas tax). All that can be done is for those of you in other states to stop allowing Kalifornians to move in and if you do - don't allow them citizenship for a number of years. Who knows, maybe these idiot liberals who turned this state into the (literal) poo hole it is and then move to Texas for the low taxes and better schools will be forced to come to terms with the mess they made rather than simply infect other parts of the nation with Beto's.

Sadly, it doesn't seem to work that way. They move to great states like Texas, Arizona, and previously Colorado, due to lower taxes, less traffic congestion, lower cost of living, etc. But then they decide they need to fix the "problems" of those states, such as lax gun control and also wanting more government running their lives until they turn it into another California. They're incapable of understanding why California became such a shithole to begin with. The same could be said about New Yorkers and Chicago folk that move to my great state. Obviously, I'm not talking about the fine folks here on PF or like minded individuals, but in general that's what I encounter with the majority of our transplants.
I read somewhere recently, maybe it was RevolverRob who posted the link, that Texas is actually being kept red by middle-aged and older people moving here to get away from other socialist crap hole locations. The kids who grow up here tend in general to lean left, perhaps because most of the people in TX now live in large cities.

Not another dime.
The only hope is to buy a decent sized piece of land somewhere just far away enough from civilization to be tolerably inconvenient, fence it off, and hope "progress" doesn't reach you until just after your kids inherit the place.
The derp is contagious and the desire for government to make everything better seems irrevocable.
