    Week 298: Seven Yard Countdown

    Week 298: Seven Yard Countdown

Results may be posted until January 7th, 2019.

    Designed by: Justin Dyal
    Range: 7 yards
    Target: B8 bull, 3x5, or ˝ 3x5, see below
    Start Position: Varies, see below
    Rounds Fired: 5

This succinct test comes from FAST Coinholder #05, Justin Dyal.

Choose the target difficulty you’d like to use. The basic target is a B8 bull (the black area). The intermediate target is a 3x5” card (you choose vertical or horizontal orientation.) The advanced target is a 3x5” folded in half to create a 3x2.5” target.

String 1: Start loaded with exactly one round, gun at the ready. At the start signal, you have 4 seconds to shoot 1, reload, and shoot 1.

String 2: Start with the gun holstered. At the start signal, you have 3 seconds to draw and shoot 1 strong hand only.

String 3: Start with the gun holstered. At the start signal, you have 2 seconds to draw and shoot 1 freestyle.

String 4: Start with the gun at ready. At the start signal, you have 1 second to present and shoot 1 freestyle.

You have to make all five hits under time to pass.

You can see Justin Dyal explain and shoot the Seven Yard Countdown here: https://www.swatmag.com/video/seven-...ntdown-015663/

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

Equipment used: gun, holster, concealment (optional)
Total score out of the five possible
    Pass or Fail
    Anything you noticed

Gun: “Stealth X”(GLOCK Model45), out of a Safariland Level 3 holster
5/5, 2nd attempt, good on times. Target was full 3x5 card(green), oriented vertically.
First attempt threw shot after load(bad regrip)
I like this drill for its simplicity, quick and low round count. Not trying to “force” the drill will result in success. Focus and be alert on the two second and one second drills.
I’d like to shoot this clean first time before moving to the half card.
And welcome to our member from Spain!

Gun: “Stealth X”. Holster: Level3 Safariland
Fail(time); all hits on vertically oriented 3x5 card.
Times ok on 1&2. 2.01 on freestyle draw, 1.02 on shot from ready.
Pretty sure I was “admiring” or refining sight alignment too much-“just shoot the shot”.
May give this another go before the end of day w/my Tenicor holster.
    I do appreciate it...

I did a terrible job reading the scoring on this before I went to the range and shot it. I shouldn't even post my results but will anyway.

Glock 17.5 MOS, Dawson fiber competition sights, concealed under a long sleeve t-shirt, Keepers holster, JM Custom AIWB mag pouch.

    Target: B8

    1. 19 points, over par (4.2 something if I remember correctly)
    2. 10 points, under par
    3. 8 points, under par
    4. 10 points, under par
47 points total. 38 if you take away the shot over par time.
    Fail

Good drill. Most shots shaded the left side of the black. Misses were left. Need more dry fire work and need to work on the grip with the Glock.
