    Homebrew paint job

This isn’t a how-to, it’s a look-what-I-did. When it’s cold out I do things like this, and stipple my Glocks.

Got the bug to paint my AR. Yes I know it’s not the best finish money can buy. Short version is I masked off areas I wanted green, then wrapped in mesh and painted with charcoal grey and bronze.

I had a color called Paprika which looked copper on the cap and on cardboard. I did this first for all the mesh/“snakeskin” but it looked too orange on the rifle. So I repainted black and green, and redid it with the other two colors.

Not good enough to write home about, not bad enough to redo. You can see a few spots where it didn’t take as well, it’s hard to get that mesh tight in every nook and cranny of a complete AR. On that note, I gave up trying to paint the MRO while it’s attached. I’ll probably hit it by itself later since I’m OCD like that.

Ignore the mag, it was just there to block the mag well.

Pros: range bunnies think I’m oper8r as heck

Cons: I might have to learn how to actually shoot this

Looks fine to me. I think the minor inconsistencies and flaws are what make DIY paint jobs on rifles look good.

Nice job! I can't wait until I have a garage some day.

Because I owed a debt I could not pay.
