When I retired I didn't get any ammo, or anything else. Good Grief!
Dave
Last day of work at the department. I tried to get a whole case out of storage, but it didn't work out. Ended up with 400 rounds.
43 years ago I met the property man at the river where he had gone to dispose of several cases of corrosive .45 ACP ammo left over from Thompson days. He had a bad back, and I did not. He left.
Brings back memories. I still remember the day when the Port Director told me to clean out the armory of all old duty ammo (about 1998 as I recall), and to distribute it to any of the troops interested in it. Being a FI and an avid handgunner to boot, I certainly walked away with lots of various .38/357 loads from all the big manufactures. We had switched over to the 9mm several years before, and there were no other gov’t agencies interested in it.
