I had an interesting malfunction with the dot yesterday. When it moved into a right upper quadrant of SRO's window, it turned into a blob. At home I was able to find a spot where dot nearly disappeared, turning into a halo.

Red dot vs iron sight gun...

My dot journey is still in it's infancy. But for me, one of the most remarkable things about the dot is my ability to call my shots.

With irons, because of poor vision, shot calling is mainly guess work. But with a dot-equipped pistol, I recently engaged a 8" see-and-shoot target at 15 yards and, lo and behold, the impacts appeared exactly where the dot was located when the shot broke. It was slightly mind boggling to see the relationship between POA and POI in real time.

May I ask what shop you're using? I'd like to get a couple done as well.

Well I don't have any of the work back yet so can't vouch for it personally, but a mix of Jagerwerks and Maple Leaf Firearms depending on the specific cuts/work I am getting done.

I love red dots for dryfire

For me, I really love the dryfire to livefire applicability that I personally was never able to do with irons. With irons, I sometimes thought I was seeing something when I clearly wasn't. @JCS

Also clarification, I said this was a "cold" live run and for me it just meant it was the first time I ran the drill that day (as opposed to running it and cherry picking the best run). I had been doing other distance drills prior.

Alright. 5 MOA or 2.5 MOA on an SRO?

ETA: Feel free to delete this comment in hindsight. I don’t want to clutter this thread up.

5 moa is most popular for USPSA style shooting.
