Smart money says she wins the Nobel prize for something next year.
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.
At the expense of being a wet blanket, can "we" agree to disagree with Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and her stated beliefs etc. without making commentary on her supposed lack of attractiveness or hypersexualizing her vis a vis her having sex with the POTUS.
Such comments are neither gentlemanly or even civil. We typically do not do this with male public figures. Moreover, when someone attacks our pro-guns assertions with personal attacks we tend to be quickly and extraordinarily dismissive.
Moreover, as a father of 19 yr old daughter/freshman in college, I ask all of you fathers of 18-30 yr old daughters (Ms. OCs demographic), how would you feel about those who spoke about your child in such a manner, particularly behind an internet keyboard.
I would also note that she saw a need for "change." Instead of simply talking about it , she did something and made a decision to challenge an "old school" Dem. Irish-Catholic politician ( who had been unchallenged by the party since 2004) who had served in both the NY state house and the House of Reps for 20+ collective yrs. She was outspent 18+ to 1 (195k v. 3.6 million) and managed to beat him by 15% points despite his endorsements from all the sitting DEM pols in NY.
In short, IMHO, he took her for a lightweight and she kicked his ass up and down the Concourse. Ms. Ocasio-Cortez has been patently transparent re her views, motivations etc. relative to more mainstream candidates. Would our system not be better off if more officeholders, new and old, left, center and right were as transparent?
We say we want agents of change....but only if they are our agents of change.
Given the collective age of the leadership class in both parties, change is coming.
Respectfully submitted,

Devil's advocate but we do with with male public figures all the fucking time. Trump is a living wrinkly orange peel and the thought of banging him isn't pleasant.
As for everyone being gentlemanly while I keep that up in public in front of old ladies I'm not a nice person on the internet. They're in public office, they'll get the fuck over it very quickly (if they haven't already) or they'll flounder and fail very badly. Either way it's a show.

Semper Gumby, Always Flexible
I guess I missed it, but I haven't seen anyone in this thread make a comment about her and Trump. If anything, that'd have more to do with Trump's comments about his own daughter.
Further, O-C's looks are going to come up, as horribly sexist and unfair as that is. I guarantee you that an opportunistic ex-boyfriend is shopping nude selfies of her right now. Her having nude selfies has nothing to do with Ocasio-Cortez as an individual and everything to do with her being a millennial, and that's just something millennials do. I'll plead the Fifth on whether I've ever made any, but you'd never recognize me anyways, because I was a hell of a lot prettier when I did / not take them.
A politician's looks have been the subject of ridicule by caricature artists for as long as caricature artists have been a thing.
I agree. Joe Crowley was nicknamed "The King of Queens" and O-C wiped the floor with him. It's a sign of how fed up voters are, and dark horse candidates are what we're going to have to rely on since term limits will never happen and life expectancy continues to increase.
I watched an interview with Ocasio-Cortez the other day, and I cannot bring myself to dislike her, despite the fact I disagree with her on virtually everything. She's obviously very intelligent, despite her somewhat ditzy demeanour and inexperience phrasing a decent sound bite. If she can catch on to how Washington works, I can easily foresee her leveraging her popularity with young voters and playing the political game like a fiddle.

More like the female Bernie Sanders, only with a shriller voice.
Moving on, this thread started out kind of lighthearted, but then it started to get pretty heavy with how she should be treated.
Fine, she ain't cute, she isn't intelligent, in fact she's pretty f---ing ignorant.
She couldn't pass a seventh grade civics test if she had the crib notes in front of her. She has no idea how economics works, yet she promotes ideas that would cripple this country's economy in a heartbeat, like ceasing production and use of fossil fuels. And her "Free Shit for All" progressiveness campaign that apparently some folks in NY really liked.
She is Socialist by self admission, therefore worthy of no respect or consideration of kindness, whether she is a sitting Congress person or not. Because after all, Socialism is the kissing first cousin of Communism. And Communism is the enemy of this Great Republic.
So I for one say bring on the crude disparaging memes, the gross, insulting humor, because that is all this Socialist hag deserves.
Right up front, if I offended you, I apologize. That was most certainly not my intent. My intent was the form of free speech protected by the 1A:
sat·ire
/ˈsaˌtī(ə)r/Submit
noun
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues
I do not think that AOC and DJT should, in actuality, "get it on" (gross), nor do I encourage treating women—or men—as onjects. Rather, I was using humor, admittedly biting, to point out that AOC and DJT are from the very same "drain the swamp"wellspring of utter discontemt with the status quo; they are most assuredly spiritual bedfellows already.
Again, my intent was not to ruffle your feathers. That said, I suggest you put me on ingnore, because I am not likely to change my sense of humor any time soon, at 50 years of age. No hard feelings if you do so. I still dig the grips. But I’m still gonna make fun of both those characters, as flawed public figures. If being "gentlemanly" means giving up political satire, then I’ll be over in the barbarian camp with the other comedians. Which I’m ok with, just as I’m ok with others living diffetently.
