    H&R .22 revolvers?

Any experience with the H&R Sidekick .22 revolvers? (929 and later)

I see the 6" versions used on Gunbroker starting at $100-150, and was thinking of trying one as a casual plinker.

I've owned at least three of the .22 H&R revolvers made since 1960. All have the same action mechanism and barrel. I observed that mine had extra large diameter forcing cones to accommodate imprecise cylinder indexing. Tin can 25yard accuracy was ok. If you had to have one repaired, parts and labor might exceed the revolver's worth. In my area a new in the box old stock Sidekick would sell for $135.00. A used but excellent version would sell for $85.00. If you buy one, plan on keeping it. The last H&R .22 that I owned suffered an action breakage. I threw it in the deepest section of the local reservoir. That said, they go bang. Loaded with rat shot, they make a nice tackle box gun for the man who fears snakes. They are well made. If taken completely apart, they are literally hell to reassemble even for experienced gun smiths.
