Kimber releases new EVO SP - an all steel, striker fired pistol

Kimber has announced a new 9mm handgun. I can't link to it from this computer, but its supposed to be a single stack, all steel, striker-fired pistol. MSRP is reported to be about $1000.

I find it hard to get excited about a Kimber, but some folks might like it.

Considering the Solo, I'm strongly inclined to give this one a pass. And I say that as an owner of two Kimber (older base model 5" 1911, and the new 3" K6s experiment). Interesting gun to launch though, I agree.

It's a Kimber, automatic pass. When you have so many other options that have a better reputation, not sure why you would even want this.

Some people want to carry a unicorn. A new and relatively untested design from a small company without the resources to do serious R&D looks good to them, I guess. Kimber, Wilson, Kahr, etc. no thanks. I prefer boring old guns like Glock, CZ, Sig, and maybe even a Ruger. There's enough problems with those...

Why do you lump Wilson in with Kahr and Kimber? I have owned a Kahr, and it was ok, but wouldn't own another one. Hopefully Wilson is much better than Kahr.

Is it true that the original Kimber 1911s were better?

Yes, says the former owner of an old Kimber.

Sample of one, etc, etc. But it ran and ran and ran.

It’s a Unicorn gun. No idea if it’s better.

If there is any way to screw something up, Kimber will find it for sure

Were the original LAPD Kimbers series 70 style guns?
