I look at using Jiu Jitsu as a concealed weapon permit.
If someone starts a confrontation (ETA: for example try to rob me with a knife) and I draw a weapon and they turn and run - you don’t shoot them that’s murder.
If someone starts an argument or some kind of confrontation, but they back out or the situation has de-escalated. You don’t go ahead and sink that choke in or go for a take down, etc. because then you’re the aggressor. Regardless of what that person has said or done.
I also think doing martial arts and having a concealed weapon permit come with a higher expectation - whether you want it or not.
Some drunk dude acts crazy at a restaurant - de-escalate or leave. Don’t go confront that person because your background will be held against you.
You knew you had a weapon or training and the potential prosecutor knows that as well and you willfully continued the conflict despite that.

I’m confused. If someone punches me from behind and then proceeds to choke me from behind as I’m minding my own business; I’m thinking that self defense is justified. In the least someone is taking clinch pick into whatever area I can find. Choking can result in death...
